36C255-25-AP-0368 Contracting Activity: Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 15, 589A7 Medical Center 2237# for this is 589-25-1-7507-0002. Brief Description of Supplies/ Services required and the intended use/Estimated Amount: Construction services are required to repair an emergency situation of an active steam line leak on the north side of building 5 of the RJDVAMC.
The steam line is actively losing enough steam pressure and heat that we will not be able to adequately heat buildings 5 and 7 over the winter months. IGCE for all work functions to include demolition of concrete, excavations and repairs is currently estimated to be $60,000. Unique characteristics that limit availability to only one source, with the reason no other supplies or services can be used: The main driver for one source is due to the emergency nature of the issue.
We must have contractors on site immediately to start this work. The vendor we have chosen has completed work here recently along the same lines with our Boiler Plant construction project. They can do the work, are local, and are already on site on other construction projects.
Description of market research conducted and results or statement why it was not conducted: Mechanical Systems Incorporated though has completed work at the RJDVAMC as a contractor in the past and has the capabilities to perform the needed work to repair an underground steam line.
