1. See Vendor RFI's on continuation page. ALL OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS REMAIN UNCHANGED David Parente Contracting Officer CONTINUATION PAGE VENDOR RFI s 36C24724Q0680 Replace Gas Monitoring System in the Chiller/Boiler Plant What is the communication protocol for the refrigerant monitor. Audible and visual alarms (strobes). All gas sensors are hard wired into the Chill Guard monitoring system. This does not tie into any of the automated systems in the control room.
Power for monitors is fed from panel NLDP1A in the electrical room in the chiller plant. Who is the BAS vendor/manufacturer? Hamlin Air Conditioning and Sheet Metal Inc. Is the refrigerant monitor being tied into the BAS? No- it s a stand-alone system. If so, will we be expected to contract the BAS vendor, or will the VA get them to integrate the monitor? Not fed into the BAS. The system is stand-alone.
However, if questions arise about monitor installation (BAS vendor installed when plant was built), the contractor is responsible for reaching out to the BAS vendor. Is the refrigerant monitor replacing the existing monitor or is it a new monitor installation? We are replacing the current monitor. Unless contractor proposes a new location, the monitor will stay in the same location. If new, is there an existing 120v circuit we can use to power it? This will not be a new installation.
The existing 120v circuit should be adequate. How far from the new monitor is the existing / new circuit? It s about 100-150 ft to the electrical room. Is there an existing 120v circuit we can use to power the new Gas Guard? This is a replacement, so yes, there is an existing circuit. The only non-replacement piece of equipment is one CO and one Combustible gas sensor in the boiler plant. This new sensor pair will go on the wall with the roll up door in the boiler plant.
It will need to be hard wired into the new Gas Guard. All other equipment is being replaced. How far from the new gas guard is the existing / new circuit? It s about 150-200ft to the electrical room. 10. Is there any specific licensing requirements stipulated by the RFP? What are the licensing requirements, if any, for the monitor installation? All equipment needs to be commissioned.
Installation must meet VHA HVAC Design Manual Installation must meet ASHRAE Standard 15 Installation must meet VHA Directive 19810 Installation must meet VHA Boiler and Associated Plant Safety Device Testing Manual Seventh Edition (page 53) Certification date must be clearly labeled on all devices. Recertification need date must be indicated on all devices.
