Description

As published on SAM.gov.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Research and Development Center (ERDC), Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory (GSL) intends to issue a Firm Fixed Price (FFP) single source award to Tekscan Inc. (CAGE 032Z2) for a VersaTek Pressure Mapping System. GSL needs a tool that accurately measures and analyzes interface pressure between two surfaces, utilizing a thin and flexible sensor. The system must be comprised of data acquisition electronics, sensors, and software.

The system must measure both force and pressure, the thin tactile sensor provides minimal interference between the objects being measured, allowing the true interface pressure data to be obtained. The interface pressure data must be collected with a system able to survive centrifuge research. The Tekscan system is the only pressure mapping system on the market with the following key features necessary to meet mission requirements:

High Resolution: Tekscan systems offer high spatial resolution with 1.4 sensels per cm2, allowing for detailed pressure mapping on a variety of surfaces. This is essential for capturing intricate pressure patterns in applications such as foot function analysis or seating assessments.

Real-time Data Acquisition: Tekscan systems provide real-time feedback, enabling users to monitor pressure distribution dynamically. This feature is valuable for applications where immediate insights into pressure changes are crucial, such as in clinical assessments or sports biomechanics.

Versatility: The systems are designed to be versatile, accommodating a range of sensing configurations needed in the centrifuge. This versatility makes Tekscan pressure mapping systems suitable for a wide array of projects and research studies.

Flexible Sensor Layouts: Tekscan offers flexibility in sensor layouts, allowing users to customize the arrangement of sensors based on the specific needs of their application. This adaptability is particularly useful for capturing pressure data in unique or irregularly shaped surfaces.

Intuitive Software Interface: The accompanying software provided by Tekscan is known for its user-friendly interface. It allows researchers and professionals to easily set up experiments, collect data, and perform in-depth analyses. The software often includes visualization tools for interpreting pressure data.

Long-Term Monitoring Capability: Tekscan systems are designed for long-term monitoring, making them suitable for applications that require continuous data collection over extended periods. The pressure sensors are reusable for multiple tests.

Calibration Tools: Precise calibration is crucial for accurate pressure measurements. Tekscan systems include calibration tools to ensure accurate and reliable data collection across various applications. Performance under centrifugal g-loading: The Tekscan system has documented performance with the direct application. The award will be issued in accordance with FAR 13.106(b)(1)(i).

The applicable North American Industrial Classification System Code (NAICS) code is 334519, Other Measuring and Controlling Device Manufacturing, with a size standard of 600 employees.
