The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Omaha District intends to determine the extend of capable small businesses and other than small business firms that have the availability in providing the requirement described below. USACE is considering issue a Total Small Business Set-Aside Request for Proposal that will result in one (1) Firm Fixed Priced contract for the 230 kV Tie-Line Switch Replacement at Big Bend Powerhouse, Fort Thompson, SD. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 237130, Power and Communication Line and Related Structures Construction. Estimated magnitude of construction is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. The general scope of work is to replace the disconnect switches connecting the Big Bend Power Plant to two (2) 230kV transmission tie lines. This equipment is located on top of the powerhouse structure and on the tailrace side of the dam next to the 230kV generator step-up transformers. Existing switch ratings are 242kV with a 900kV BIL; Ampacities range from 1,200A to 2,000A. The replacement scope is five (5) motor operated circuit switchers, two (2) load rated operated disconnects, six (6) grounding switches, and the associated equipment needed to place the 230kV switch connection back into service.
