BALLISTIC GELATIN POWDER

U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command – Armaments Center (CCDC-AC), Small Caliber Munitions Division FCDD-ACM-MI at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ, is conducting market research to determine the ability to manufacture and produce Ballistic Gelatin Powder.

REQUIREMENT: Pharmaceutical and Optical Grade, Type A, gelling protein obtained from collagen extracted from denatured sources (porcine)

Physical Properties: Bloom strength shall be 250 +/-5 g per USP/NF Viscosity shall be 44 + 2.0 mps per GMIA Clarity shall be < 25 NTU per CCL-010 Ash and bacteria content shall be minimized. Shelf Life When protected from water in a temperature and humidity conditioned environment, the gelatin shall have a shelf life greater than 3 years. Ballistic Gelatin Powder shall be packaged in 100lb drums, each pallet shall be no more than 1,200lbs, each pallet shall be made of the same lot of Ballistic Gelatin.

A 30lb - 7"W x 7"H x 18"L block at 20% concentration shall be made and photographed. The photograph shall be sent to the buyer who will deem the color acceptable. The quality control record of the lot shall be provided.
