Description
As published on SAM.gov.
NREL intends to provide DOE and industry with critical Research, Development, & Demonstration (RD&D) capabilities to accelerate and scale aggressive transportation decarbonization goals for the on- and off-road electric vehicle (EV) fleet. An energy storage system emulation capability will provide the ability to test system-level scenarios of a high-power electric vehicle charging station and its integration and operations with renewables and the power grid.
The goal is to create power management conditions that represent those of multiple large capacity, high voltage batteries like those that may be found on future heavy-duty trucks, buses, and military vehicles.
NREL is in search of solutions from converter manufacturers to supply Alternating Current (AC)/Direct Current (DC) or DC/DC converter solutions which are configurable to represent multiple DC independently operated smaller units or a single combined unit and will need to be flexible to represent the response characteristics of a wide range of energy storage technologies available today and expected to be available in the future.
