Notice of Intent to Sole Source Preventative Maintenance Services for the VarioMill Micro-Milling Machine

This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Operational Technology Division (OTD), Digital Forensics and Analytics Section (DFAS) has a requirement for one (1) year preventative maintenance service plan for the VarioScale, Inc., VarioMill adaptive 5-axis CNC tool, micro-milling machine.

The FBI intends to award a sole-source, one-time, firm-fixed-price contract to VarioScale, Inc., (CAGE Code 305Z4), 1782 La Costa Meadows Drive, Suite 101, San Marcos, California, 92078-9102. The VarioMill micro-milling machine is manufactured by VarioScale, Inc. This contract action is being sole-sourced because VarioScale, Inc. owns the proprietary rights to all data, service documentation, drawings, calibration software, and schematics. There are no third-party service providers for the VarioMill machine.

The North American Classification System Code (NAICS) is 811210, Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance. The size standard for NAICS Code 811210 is $34M. VarioScale, Inc. is a small business. The FBI intends to negotiate with only one (1) source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, (Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements).

Interested parties may identify their interests and capability to respond to this requirement by 10:00 AM, (EST), 8 January 2025. Emailed responses will only be considered. No phone calls. Any response to this notice must show clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government. Responses shall include the firm's Dun and Bradstreet number (DUNS), CAGE Code, UEI Unique Entity ID (UEI) number, and their Business Size.

Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed award upon response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. No reimbursement for any cost connected with providing capability information will be provided.
