The Naval Air Systems Command, Lakehurst, NJ intends to issue a contract on a limited competition basis between Maurer Magnetic AG and their authorized distributors for the acquisition of up to three hundred ninety-five (395) MM HE1 Small Area Demagnetizers and up one hundred forty-five (145) MM HE2 Large Area Demagnetizers over a five (5) year period for maintenance on the MH-60 aircraft.

These magnetizers are required to degauss the aircraft’s transition section as part of the Digital Magnetic Anomaly Detection system installed on the MH-60R aircraft. The purpose is to eliminate as much magnetic field residual remains as possible in the vicinity of the Magnetometer Sensor Unit due to the magnetic hysteresis effect.

Maurer Magnetic AG is the Original Equipment Manufacturer of the above equipment and own all the proprietary data to the engineering data and detailed product drawings to provide the same form, fit, and function that is compatible with the existing configurations. Maurer Magnetic and their authorized distributors are the only vendors capable of meeting the Government requirement.

This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, the Government will consider all responses received within 15 days after the date of publication of this synopsis. Information received as a result this notice of intent will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a full and open competitive requirement.

A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to full and open competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. All responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal or quotation, which shall be considered by the agency. No contract will be awarded on the basis of offers received in response to this notice.

A determination not to compete this requirement is within the discretion of the Government. Any response to this notice must show clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government in a future competition.
