Description

The parts being acquired are exclusively made by General Microsystems Incorporated (GMI). There are no authorized distributors of theses items. As the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of these parts, GMI is the only company with the required data rights and in-house resident knowledge to provide the electronic modules with the required capabilities required by the Government. Use of alternative parts would be more costly as it would require additional tools and labor to test and qualify alternatives.
Additionally, use of alternate equipment may introduce new or changing existing parameters that could damage or effect the proper operation of the LCAC. These critical components are designated as essential spare logistics required to sustain the LCAC in operational condition during its Initial Operational Test & Evaluation (IOT&E). Without these spares, any component failure would directly impede crucial repair and maintenance operations, rendering the craft Non- Mission Capable.
This will halt the vital IOT&E process, significantly delaying the program and the fielding of this asset. Therefore, it is imperative that these electronic modules and components are acquired from GMI as soon as possible
