Description

As published on SAM.gov.

Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) overhauls the F-1542 band pass filters for all surface craft communication systems. This overhaul involves alignment of frequencies which requires the use of filter alignment test fixture (P/N: 576056). The SRC remote interface controller is also used as a part of this process to allow for the coupler to test for remote control which is a requirement onboard the ships.

NNSY owns two test fixtures, serial numbers 002 and 003, and two SRC Remote Interface Controllers serial number 0001, and 0002. NNSY requires an open and inspection because none of the units are in proper working order. When a filter is placed in the test bed and power is turned on, the gears start turning but then go beyond the limit switches which causes severe damage to the filter. The SRC is unresponsive and not communicating correctly with the filter.
