Description

As published on SAM.gov.

This is a sources sought synopsis to determine the availability of potential sources capable of providing a three-dimensional bioprinter that needs to be compatible with a wide array of materials of different viscosities for the Naval Medical Research Unit San Antonio, Fort Sam Houston, TX. The 3D bioprinter should function to incorporate various cell types and differentiation factors via addressing the complexity of dealing with living, temperature dependent factors.

Also, in relation to the biomaterials, being able to regulate the temperature of the materials as well as UV cure materials will be a necessity to generate materials suitable for testing. The exact requirements for this contract are as follows:

provide a 3D bioprinting system that is automated, high-throughput, and enables advanced tissue engineering through additive and continuous paths. The system must have the ability to deposit material in a finely contoured manner and this motion can only be achieved using the large range of motion afforded through a 6-axis robotic arm. The system must be able to support various printing tools including interchangeable print heads, enabling the incorporation of an array of different tasks and materials.

Up to eight tools must be loaded, stored, and automatically exchanged during a single print experiment, thereby promoting complex tissue assembly that can be added at a later date. The tools that must be included upon delivery are 3/5/10ml pneumatic dispense syringe tool, 3/5/10ml mechanical dispense syringe tool, 30ml Pneumatic Dispense syringe tool, ambient syringe tool with UV curing tool, heat controlled pneumatic dispense syringe tool, and cold controlled pneumatic dispense syringe tool.

The system must be capable of dual syringe dispensing with mixing. The system must be contained in a Class II, Type-A biosafety cabinet. The system must be contained in a biosafety cabinet for sterility purposes, and to meet safety requirements. The mechanics of the system must be controlled by a single software package which allows for custom structures to be designed to address specific application needs. Installation and training must also be provided.

Advanced Solutions Life Sciences, LLC is currently the only known company who can provide this specific three-dimensional bioprinter that meets all of the Government’s requirements.

The North American Industry Classification (NACIS) code for this is 333248. Interested offerors possessing the ability to provide this specific three-dimensional bioprinter are invited to respond to this source-sought synopsis by providing their capability information via the submission of an executive summary, no more than one (1) page in length.

The submission shall include the following information: (1) company name, address, point of contract with corresponding phone number and email address; and business size; and (2) relevant conference information. All submissions are required to be submitted via email to Allison.m.Miller38.civ@us.navy.mil. No later than 12:00 P.M. (local time/ Philadelphia, PA) on Friday, 07 June 2024. Please direct any question concerning this sources sought synopsis to Allison Miller at Allison.m.Miller38.civ@us.navy.mil.
