USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has a construction requirement to renovate a room in building 6418 at Moore Air Base in Edinburg, Texas.
Background: Building 6418 at Moore Air Base is a Mexican Fruit Fly Rearing Facility. The Mexican Fruit Fly Program is charged with the eradication of Mexican Fruit Flies from the Lower Rio Grande Valley in Texas and the northern municipalities of Tamaulipas, Mexico. Building 6418’s Colony Egg Bubbling Room is where fly eggs are cleaned and incubated. The equipment and furniture in the room is corroded beyond repair, along with the floors, which are dilapidated due to high traffic, corrosive chemical washout, and foundation settling.
Demolition: Curtin off hallways to the bottom side of roof to for dust control (utilize usage of exhaust fans) cover existing floor drain Remove all instruments and equipment from counter tops Remove all suspended ceiling Remove metal door and frame Remove base cabinets and hung cabinets Relocate stainless-steel table and chemical tanks Furnish and Install: Repair CMU walls and paint walls Epoxy coat concrete floor Install new anti-corrosion material base cabinets with sink and counter tops Install new anti-corrosion material hung cabinets Install new touchless fixtures Install stainless steel table and chemical tanks Re-install suspended ceiling This project will be set aside for service-disabled veteran-owned small business firms only.
The NAICS code is 236220 – Commercial and Institutional Building Construction, with a small business size standard of $45 million. The estimated magnitude of the project is between $100,000 and $250,000. The project will be set aside for small business concerns only. The solicitation will be posted on or about July 24, 2025.
