Description
As published on SAM.gov.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Marketing Service, Cotton and Tobacco Program, has a requirement to replace some HVAC equipment at the Cotton Classing Lab, located at 3545 Twin River Blvd, Corpus Christi, TX 78410. The project includes the following scope:
Base Project: Replace AHU-1 consisting of a custom packaged air handling unit with prefilter, final filter, steam distribution humidifier, chilled water coil, fan array with top discharge, 21,740 cfm as scheduled. Replace RC-1 steam reheat coil with a unit having stainless steel tubes and fins. Existing RF-1 is an industrial stainless-steel model upstream of AHU-1 and shall remain. Replace intake hood 1 serving AHU-1. Curb Cap has been left for this purpose by the roofing contractor under a previous project.
Controls for this unit will be installed under the scope of another project. Remove the insulation from the chilled water tank. Cap the vent and pressure test this ASME rated tank to 50 psi. Provide new side stream sock filter, new makeup PRV to admit soft water at a pressure of 10 psig. Provide a Shrader valve to charge the tank with air. Existing site glass to remain. Reinsulate the tank and provide metal jacket. Selectively replace insulation on steam, condensate, and chilled water piping.
Alternate 1: Replace RC-2 steam reheat coil serving AHU-2 with a unit having copper tubes and aluminum fins. Replace duct wrap insulation downstream of reheat coil over electric/air room, to the first tee in the receiving and storage room. This insulation has been wet due to the faulty reheat coil. Controls for this unit will be replaced under another project.
Alternate 2: Replace AHU-2 consisting of a custom packaged air handling unit with prefilter, final filter, steam distribution humidifier, chilled water coil, fan array with top discharge, 19,210 cfm as scheduled. Replace RC-2 steam reheat coil serving AHU-2 with a unit having stainless steel tubes and fins. Controls for this unit will be replaced under the scope of another project, with existing control valves to remain.
Alternate 3: Replace existing simplex boiler feed pump with duplex model. Connect controls to existing boiler makeup feeder. This unit has a feedwater heater/thermocouple and is responsive to the pump controller on the boiler.
Alternate 4: For the computer room, replace packaged rooftop unit No. 2 (existing 4-ton gas/electric) with a 4-ton unit having cooling only with hot gas reheat for humidity control.
Alternate 5: Replace electrical bolted pressure switch west of the building. The project will be set aside for small business concerns only. The NAICS code for this project is 238220, Plumbing, Heating, and Air-Conditioning Contractors, with a small business size standard of $19 million. The estimated magnitude of the project is between $500,000 and $1,500,000. The solicitation will be posted on or about Jan 26, 2024. It is the responsibility of interested parties to monitor this site for the solicitation and amendments, if any.
