Description
As published on SAM.gov.
The Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) seeks feedback to inform the fiscal year 2027 (FY27) Traumatic Brain Injury and Psychological Health Research Program (TBIPHRP) research focus areas and associated research funding opportunities.
Although FY27 federal funds have not yet been appropriated, TBIPRP is collecting this information solely to support strategic program planning. This inquiry does not commit the program to incorporating this feedback into FY27 or any future TBIPHRP funding opportunities. The CDMRP wants to hear from all audiences, interested parties, and individuals from academia, industry, community and non-profit organizations, scientific and professional organizations, federal agencies, and the public.
This RFI should not be construed as a solicitation or an obligation on the part of the TBIPHRP or the Department of War (DoW).
BACKGROUND: The CDMRP represents a unique partnership between the U.S. Congress, the military, and the public to fund innovative and impactful medical research in targeted program areas. The CDMRP TBIPHRP’s vision is to optimize the prevention, assessment, and treatment of psychological health conditions and/or traumatic brain injuries. The TBIPHRP’s mission is to fund research to understand, prevent and treat psychological health conditions and/or traumatic brain injuries that accelerates solutions to improve the health and healthcare of Service Members, their Families, Veterans, and the American public.
Appropriations for the TBIPHRP from FY21-24 and FY26 totaled $740.5 million. As of October 2026, FY27 funds for the TBIPHRP have not been appropriated. If appropriated, the CDMRP will utilize its two-tier review process https://cdmrp.health.mil/about/2tierRevProcess) to efficiently manage the TBIPHRP.
