The Sterile Processing Department (SPD) plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, safety, and functionality of surgical instruments used in patient care. Properly maintained instruments prevent surgical delays, prevent patient harm, and uphold standards set by AAMI, ANSI, OSHA, and accrediting bodies like The Joint Commission. To fulfill these responsibilities effectively, SPD relies on qualified service partners to provide specialized sharpening, repair, and refurbishment services that extend the life of instrumentation and ensure reliable performance in the operating room.
