Notice of Intent to Sole Source Biofire Global Fever Test Kits at U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa, Japan

The Defense Health Agency, Contracting Office - San Diego (HT9410), 7700 Arlington Blvd., Falls Church, VA 22042, has awarded a firm-fixed price (FFP), supply contract. The supplies provide BioFire Global Fever Special Pathogens Panel IVD, 6 Test (27 PG), and BioFire Shield Control Kit for GFSPP, 12 controls (2 PG). at U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa, Japan. This sole source and firm-fixed price contract was awarded to Biofire Defense LLC on 11 July 202 for a one-time purchase base and no option pedriods.

Total contract value is $38,820.00. Biofire Defense LLC is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the BioFire Global Fever Special Pathogens Panel and BioFire Shield Control Kits. BioMérieux is the parent company.

However, BioFire Defense was created specifically to retain confidentiality of U.S. Government strategic assets under the Foreign Ownership Control and Influence (FOCI) mitigation agreement between the US Government, BioFire Defense (BFDF), BioMérieux, and all Affiliate companies owned by BioMérieux.

Because of this and its corresponding MOU, all US Department of Defense accounts fall solely under BioFire Defense LLC. Additionally, BioMérieux does not have authorization to sell the Global Fever Special Pathogens Test kits or Global Fever Special Pathogens SHIELD control kits. These kits are only available to be ordered through BioFire Defense. The second part of the Sole Source letter specifies that BioFire is the sole provider, and not BioMérieux.
