Description
As published on SAM.gov.
1.1 PROJECT SCOPE: The contractor shall purchase and install two 2-ton electrical hoists in hangar 4 on Joint Base San Antonio - Randolph using existing hoist railing at a height of 20 feet on both the east and west end of the hangar.
1.2 PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 1.2.1 The contractor will remove any obstructions to the rail system that would prevent its use when the hoists are installed. 1.2.2 The hoist must be able to traverse the 20-foot section at each respective ends of the northwest rail and southeast rail. The rail’s bottom flange is 5 inches wide. 1.2.3 Contractors shall purchase two 2-ton rated electrical hoists and install them on hoist rail system that is certified to 7,000 lbs.
One hoist will be installed on the east rail system and one hoist will be installed on the west rail system. 1.2.4 Each hoist must have a wired pendant control box that is connected directly to the hoist and that is sufficient in length so that the user can operate the hoist at least 10’ away from the moving aircraft engine. 1.2.5 The contractor shall install ANSI, ASME and OSHA Standard markings as required and stencil rail to correct certified weight of 7000 lbs.
1.2.6 Hoist electrical requirements are 220-480 volts depending on the type of hoist that is installed, as long as it has a 2-ton capacity, three phases, and dual speed. The total weight of the hoist shall not exceed 500 lbs. 1.2.7 Load certification is available and current. 1.2.8 Contractors will need to provide electricity to the hoist. Electricity will be provided using an in-line retractable power cord reel or tagline.
Electrical power will not need to cover the entire length of the rail, only 25-30 ft from the end of the rail. The voltage range must be within 220-480 volts. This distance does not account for any additional cabling needed to run the system. 1.2.9 The hoist and trolley motions will be motorized. There is no existing trolley installed on the current rail system. The trolley will need to be part of the hoist. 1.2.10 Contractors will need to provide their own lifts and equipment to install and certify hoists. 1.2.11 Due to the presence of lead-based paint on the monorails, lead abatement by a certified professional will be necessary if any disturbance of the paint occurs.
