339992 Requirement Information: The USAF Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, requires one Keith Berg handmade French horn in yellow brass with hand-hammered detachable bell. The period of performance is the date of Award plus 60 days, unless otherwise extended in accordance with the contract.

The Keith Berg handmade French horn must meet the following critical performance requirements: 1) handmade by Keith Berg 2) double horn with Knopf-Geyer style wrap 3) made in 2013 4) yellow brass 5) hand-hammered detachable bell 6) Approximate weight: 2.5 kg / 5 lb 8 oz 7) Bore size: 0.468 inches / 11.9 mm 8) Serial number: 2013-43 9) Bell throat size: medium 10) Nickel-silver mouthpipe 11) Lever-type water key 12) String valve linkages 13) Hand-lapped valves and tuning slides 14) Engraved valve caps Please see the attached Salient Characteristics to see the full list of performance requirements.

These requirements are not unique to the military and can be acquired in the commercial market sector and performed by any business type (large or small). This Sources Sought Synopsis (SSS) is in support of market research being conducted by the United States Air Force (USAF). This market research is being conducted to increase competition for this requirement by identifying potential sources and to gauge interest.

The Government will use the information gathered through publication of this SSS to determine the best acquisition strategy for this requirement.
