Description
As published on SAM.gov.
Purchase a single view X-Ray inspection system for screening handbags, luggage, and personal belongings prior to entering NIEHS buildings. As part of the NIEHS life cycle replacement program NIEHS purchases a new X-Ray inspection system every 2 years. This life cycle replacement program allows for replacement of all X-Ray inspection systems in a 10-year period. All the other NIEHS X-Ray inspection systems are Smith Detection systems.
The sole source selection of a Smith detection X-Ray inspection system will assist with operators training and will ensure one service warranty is needed. NIEHS Security Group utilizes five Smiths Detection X-ray scanners located throughout the NIEHS campus at key entry points to screen mail, personal luggage, bags, and backpacks brought onto the campus by visitors. This is replacing a machine that is past the end-of-service life with a new, same type of x-ray scanner.
The scanners are an essential security component, reliance on properly functioning machines to screen for potentially hidden dangerous materials in personal bags and packages is crucial in maintaining a safe and secure NIEHS campus. Therefore, replacing the old machine with a new machine will support continuous high level security operations level.
