The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded a contract to Microwave Engineering Corporation (MEC), North Andover, MA, for acquisition of Weather System Processor (WSP) Uni-Directional Couplers. These directional couplers are part of the RF Channel that directs the weather signal from the Airport Surveillance Radar Model 9 (ASR-9) to the WSP. The contract was awarded as a one-time, fixed price contract.
Microwave Engineering Corporation (MEC), North Andover, MA, is the original manufacturer part number S310-101 which is the only approved directional coupler to be used in the WSP and ASR-9 radar. MEC has no authorized distributors who provide these products. A market survey (6973GH-24-MS-00014) was posted to the SAM.gov web site on March 20, 2024. No responses were received in response to the market survey.
Additionally, a Notice of Intent to Single Source (6973GH-24-R-00124) was posted to the SAM.gov web site on April 11, 2024. Contract 6973GH-24-C-00076 was awarded on May 14, 2024 to Microwave Engineering Corporation for a total value of $311,420.00.
