For over three decades, ITE has supported federally stewarded ITS standards activities that bring together public agencies, private-sector technology providers, and subject matter experts to develop consensus-based standards that enable interoperable, safe, and effective transportation systems.

FHWA requires non-personal systems engineering development, testing, and research services to support the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) ITS Joint Program Office (ITS-JPO).
