Special Notice Special Notice Page 2 of 2 Special Notice Page 1 of 2 The Department of Veterans Affairs intends to solicit and negotiate a Sole Source, Firm-Fixed-Price Order with the large business Jeol USA, Inc. The procurement is for a service contract to cover product maintenance, repair, parts, and labor for the JEM-1400 Electron Microscope.

The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 811210. This service is necessary to support ongoing research projects that utilize the Jeol microscope. Jeol USA, Inc. is the manufacturer sole supplier of all services and service-related material, including parts.

Because the OEM does not have any authorized distributors for this required service, this procurement is limited to one source in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(2) Soliciting from a Single Source, as no other supplies will satisfy the Agency s requirement.

The anticipated award date: February 08, 2024. This requirement is for: Department of Veterans Affairs Portland VA Medical Center 3710 SW US Veterans Hospital Road Portland, OR 97239 This notice satisfies the requirement at FAR 5.201(b)(1), to publicize the proposed contract action. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation will be made available. Any responses received will only be considered for the purpose of determining the marketplace for future procurements.

The Government will not pay for information submitted. This will be the only notice of the Government s intent to solicit, negotiate, and award to one source to satisfy this requirement.
