Description

As published on SAM.gov with the solicitation of February 26, 2024.

This solicitation amendment is to address questions posed by industry and provide answers. All information colored in red is the Government s response to the question(s). Who will be responsible for blocking off the parking lot to ensure we have adequate access into and out of the lot with our crane and semi-trucks along with adequate setup area? VA will block off the area the night before so it will be clear.

Crane contractor will be responsible for securing the area and maintaining a safe perimeter once the crane arrives. Will the asphalt parking lot support the weight of the crane and semi-trucks? The area where the crane is to be placed is concrete with approximate thickness of 8 inches. It will support the weight of the crane and semi-trucks. Contractor should supply and utilize proper support plating to disperse weight of crane support arms.

Are there any underground structures or underground utilities in the crane setup area or in the path to access the setup area? There is a storm drain under the area, but this will not be affected by the crane or semi-trucks. Is there a maximum allowable % of capacity of the crane chart to be used? ie 75% or 85% of the full manufacture rated capacity at the radius for the list? Please use 75% of the full manufacturers rated capacity at the radius for the list. Is there any assembly required?

Do the ramps attach to the building, or do they just set beside the doors? If so, how are they attached, and do you have instillation instructions for the attachment? The ramps rest on attached, adjustable legs with no mechanical attachment to the building. No installation instructions necessary. The ramps weigh approximately 450 lbs. each, so they will need to be set in place and height adjusted by the crane contractor. Are we required to anchor the building to the concrete pad.?

The drawing shows anchors but the RFP does not call out anchoring? If we are responsible for anchoring, is there any leveling of the building required? No leveling is required. The concrete pad is level, and this is not a level-sensitive building. Who would be responsible for supplying anchors? No, crane contractor is not responsible for anchoring. Drawing lists out electric components such as lights, switches, heating, and ventilation. Are we responsible for electric interconnection, installation, or tie in? Are we responsible for any utilities either interconnection or tie in? No, crane contractor is not responsible for electric hookup.
