Description
As published on SAM.gov.
This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract to Sun Nuclear Corporation, a large business, for the procurement of a Sun Nuclear 3D Dosimetry Scanner. Description of Requirement:Â The Department of Veterans Affairs requires the acquisition of a Sun Nuclear 3D Dosimetry Scanner to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of radiation dose measurements in radiation therapy.
This equipment is critical for commissioning new equipment, performing annual scans, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards in patient treatment plans. Sole Source Justification:Â Based on market research and direct communication with a representative from Sun Nuclear, it has been confirmed that Sun Nuclear Corporation is the proprietary provider of the Sun Nuclear 3D Dosimetry Scanner.
There are no authorized distributors for this equipment, and the proprietary nature of the scanner requires specific software compatibility and maintenance support that only Sun Nuclear can provide. A proprietary letter from Sun Nuclear has been provided to substantiate this claim. Market Research Confirmation:Â A search conducted using the ADD UP simple search tool with the generic name "3D Dosimetry Scanner" revealed 11 previously awarded contracts.
Notably, 10 out of the 11 search results indicated that the purchases were made from Sun Nuclear, demonstrating their dominance and reliability in this market. Conclusion:Â Given the proprietary nature of the Sun Nuclear 3D Dosimetry Scanner, and the lack of authorized distributors, the Department of Veterans Affairs intends to award a sole source contract to Sun Nuclear Corporation.
This action ensures the acquisition of high-quality, compatible equipment necessary for accurate dosimetry measurements and patient safety. Responses:Â Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement only by via email. Vendors are allowed to submit clear evidence of their ability to provide the required equipment as described above.
Any responses to this notice must demonstrate they can meet the production and delivery requirements of the Sun Nuclear 3D Dosimetry Scanner. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct competitive procurement. Responses must be received no later than the date indicated below. The Contracting Officer will not respond to any phone inquiries regarding this requirement.
Deadline for Responses:Â Responses must be received by [8/4/2025 10:00 am] and directed to [Marcus.Lewis2@va.gov]. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals and a solicitation will not be issued. However, all information received by the response date will be considered by the Government.
