508-24-121 | Structural Preparation and Associated Infrastructure OR Boom Installation

This project includes the review and reengineering of structural supports, as well as the installation of data cabling to support the installation of multiple surgical booms procured by the surgical service in Operatories 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 at the Atlanta VA Medical Center at 1670 Clairmont Rd., Decatur, GA 30033. The surgical booms being installed are replacing existing installations in addition to the integration of data requirements. The project includes:

Field verification of every OR ceiling measurement above ceiling 8 ORs. Total of 16 ceiling inspections. Installation of boom equipment supports around the sterile field (16 locations) Removing and reinstalling OR diffusers after supports are installed in 6 locations Running 16 CAT 6 cables from data closest to 2 different locations designated by OR Integration Team.

16 CAT 6 cables per location, 8 per integration rack x 4 racks per location Behind AV racks on wall-mounted 16 data connections with patch cables to AV racks Two 56 displays in each room requiring running cabling, backing in wall, 16 locations 2 large speaker openings in each OR ceiling and prep for integration system. A public solicitation was not posted for this requirement, but a Special Notice of Intent to Sole Source to Skytron LLC was posted to SAM.gov per FAR requirements.

As mentioned in the Single Source Justification for this procurement, Skytron, LLC is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for this requirement, and previously procured equipment is designed to solely support the installation of Skytron Boom equipment and specs. Additionally, Skytron is the only contractor who can maintain the manufacturer-authorized warranty on the previously procured equipment being used in this project.
