Description

As published on SAM.gov with the solicitation of May 10, 2024.

BT 4B Water Damage RFIs Received May 07, 2024 VA Response Sent May 10, 2024, by Mikaela Kaufman For the acoustic tile on floor 3: Is it ONLY the tiles to be replaced, or the grid and tiles? Is it ALL the tile, or only the tiles that have been removed during phase 1? It is only the acoustic ceiling tile to be replaced on the third floor. It will be all the tiles, any tiles currently remaining in the area are to be disposed of. The main halls have lower and mid-section cart bumpers, for hospital bed.

Does this area scope of work receive cart bumpers? This area does not appear to have patient rooms, so most likely not? The corridors within the area of scope will have the lower wall bumpers and corner guards to match existing wall protections within the laboratory spaces of the VA. Is the plumbing sectioned in such a way to perform the legionella flush in limited areas? Does the entire wing need the flush?

Or is the flush to be more "local" by creating access where available and doing ONLY the area inside the scope. Is there a 3rd party legionella test to be performed before or after the flush. The legionella flush is to be done to the disturbed spaces within the project s scope. Testing for the legionella flush is an expectation of the contractor per the water distribution specifications. Do you have the specs available for the existing approved laminate tile?

If not, what is the process for getting an alternative approved? The specs for the tiling should be available in the Section 09 65 19 Resilient Tile Flooring portion of this project s specifications. Contractors can find tiles that matches the specifications listed, color match it to what is currently in place in the corridor and submit options to the VA for approval from Interior Design. There is a number of sink and equipment on floor 3. Who is responsible for those reconnections.

Sink faucets will often have internal corroding from lack of use. What happens if the faucets need to be replaced? What about the specialized medical equipment? Who is responsible for specialty equipment good working order? The contractor will be expected to handle the reconnection of all water and gas lines within the spaces covered by the scope. No new equipment is included in the scope of this project. If equipment is found to be incapable of being reconnected, it will be considered a change in site conditions.

I saw loose phone wires, sockets, and data lines, if those are re-installed there is no way to know if they will work, or if they have been in working order before; Is there a plan in place to resolve that issue? Is the expectation to test and repair all electric etc. before installation? Judging by the condition and age, I am sure many of those telephone wires have not worked for years. There is no expectation for the electrical system to be tested within the scope of this project.
