Description
As published on SAM.gov.
INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE Department of Veterans Affairs, Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center, hereby gives notice of the Government s intent to establish a firm-fixed-price purchase order with AMERICAN COLLEGE OF SURGEONS, for the Commission on Cancer Accreditation Fee at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center, 1111 E. East End Boulevard, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18711. The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC) is a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for patients with cancer by setting and raising standards.
They promote cancer prevention, research, education, and monitoring of comprehensive quality care. CoC accreditation denotes quality, potentially attracting more patients and providing opportunities for patient engagement. The CoC Standards focus on structure, process, and outcomes and aim to address the full continuum of cancer from prevention to survivorship and end-of-life care while addressing both survival and quality of life.
The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer is the only institution, nationally or globally, that provides the opportunity for accreditation through membership and participation with them. Due to the idiosyncratic nature of their service, any hospital, VA or civilian, that wishes to obtain accreditation from the ACoS COC must utilize them and pay their annual dues. There is no other commission, board, or any other similar body that provides this type of specialized accreditation.
This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes and is for information purposes only. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses of this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
