Description
As published on SAM.gov.
This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract and is not a request for quotes. The Department of Veterans Affairs Albany VAMC intends to award a Sole Source open market action contract for the purchase of a Cystoscopy Resection Tray.
Name of Contractor:
Olympus America, Inc. Street Address: 3500 Corporate Parkway, P.O.
Box 610 City, State, Zip: Center Valley, PA 18034-0610 The cystoscopy resection set operates by allowing the surgeon to visualize and access the bladder and lower urinary tract using a rigid cystoscope and resectoscope assembly.
The system combines optical imaging, fluid irrigation, and electrosurgical energy delivery to perform diagnostic and therapeutic urologic procedures such as transurethral resection of bladder tumors (TURBT), transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), biopsy, coagulation, and removal of lesions or foreign bodies. The rigid cystoscope provides direct visualization through an optical telescope connected to the facility s camera system and video tower.
Continuous irrigation flows through the resectoscope sheath to maintain a clear field of view during surgery. A working element within the resectoscope advances and retracts an electrosurgical cutting or coagulation electrode. The surgeon activates the electrode using an electrosurgical generator to precisely resect or coagulate tissue under direct visualization.
The mechanical movement of the working element, combined with the stability of the resectoscope sheath, allows for controlled tissue removal while minimizing trauma. The ST-CR2 resection tray supports safe operation by ensuring proper protection, organization, and validated sterilization of all components. The tray maintains instrument alignment, spacing, and immobilization during reprocessing cycles, preserving optical accuracy, electrosurgical performance, and mechanical functionality.
The tray s design ensures compatibility with Olympus resection instruments and compliance with OEM reprocessing Instructions for Use (IFUs). All OEM components necessary to perform rigid cystoscopy and transurethral resection procedures. These items ensure full compatibility with the facility s existing endoscopic platform.
