Upon inspection, by VA Imaging Biomedical Engineering Specialists, they have determined the following components require replacement and installation: Material # 11252280 - Radiation Protection.

The part we are ordering as a lead apron/shroud replacement for physical wear, is OEM specific and the assembly is designed to fit this particular piece of equipment as designed and FDA approved through Siemens Medical. Generic parts are not available because of the specific design related to this system. Other parts will alter the design. This piece of equipment failed and developed cracks in the fabric resulting in unsafe conditions. The piece of this equipment is needed for doctor and patient safety.

Market research was not conducted because this is going to be procured on an emergency basis. This notice of intent to sole source with justification for brand name only satisfies the public posting requirements of FAR 13.501. The Veterans Health Administration prohibits the use of gray market items in their Medical Centers. Gray market items are considered to be items outside of the original equipment manufacturer s intended distribution channels.
