Description

As published on SAM.gov.

The Naval Foundry & Propeller Center (NFPC) requires chemical products to be utilized during their daily operations. NFPC is currently utilizing Lino-Cure, an alkyd-oil three-part binder system. NSWCPD is conducting market research on behalf of NFPC to determine if there are alternative binder systems that meet NFPC’s needs. Please respond to the following:

Please provide the safety data sheets for your binder system. How many parts are in your binder system? What is the amount of time the binder and sand can be worked to shape the mold? Can the cure time be controlled? Do you have written or visual demonstration of product expansion/contracting during the cure time? If so, please provide. Can the resultant mold be easily modified or repaired, if necessary? Does your binder require gas purging to set? Are there combustible constituents in your binder system?

Do you utilize phenol, formaldehyde or any other environmental concern within your binder system? Would the current mixing machine setup require replacement of tanks, pipes, and tubes if switching over to your binder system?
