Notice of Intent to Sole Source - Labcorp - Pertussis Diphtheria laboratory study

The purpose of this contract is to purchase 4680 deidentified nasopharyngeal specimens (selected weekly at random; 20 Bordetella pertussis positive, 20 positive for another Bordetella, 5 negative). The vendor shall provide 585 remnant nasopharyngeal specimens per quarter from diagnostic testing submitted from across the US public health jurisdiction to be used as representative inputs for pertussis pathogen genomic surveillance.

The vendor shall deidentify and relabel remnant specimens with a unique identifier prior to shipment. Samples can be stored frozen (-70C) and shipped on dry ice overnight to CDC accompanied by CDC’s Global File Accessioning Template (GFAT) form similar, which will include study ID, patient age (in years), gender, geographic location (zip code), and specimen collection date. CDC currently has an existing legal agreement with Labcorp for the material transfer of specimens for the project.
