The upstream wave berm repair for both Sites 16 and 16A will consist of stripping and stockpiling the topsoil from the embankment eroded area; performing excavation and earthfill activities to achieve the specified rock riprap subgrade; placing and anchoring geotextile fabric on the approved subgrade; placing rock riprap to the required thickness and limits as shown in the construction drawings; backfilling the toe of the rock riprap with earthen materials; blending the earthwork above the rock riprap into the existing embankment; establishing vegetation; and removing and reconstructing fence as shown on the construction drawings.
The existing plunge basins for both sites have experienced erosion along the side slopes of the basin and outlet channel. To prevent/retard future erosion, the basins will be armored with a blanket of rock riprap. [Site 16A only] Plunge basin erosion has also caused damage to the principal spillway pipe in the vicinity of the pipe outlet.
Repair of this damage includes excavating embankment material from around the damaged pipe sections; removing and reconstructing the damaged pipe cantilever, pipe support, and concrete cradle; replacing approximately 40 ft. of the damaged spillway pipe at the outlet; installing a new sand filter collar around a portion of the replaced pipe sections; and reconstructing the earthen embankment in this vicinity.
