Special Mixture Anti-Freeze

The Snow Survey and Water Supply Forecasting Program (SSWSFP) requires a specific, non-toxic, mixture of antifreeze solutions for SNOTEL station operations. The antifreeze solution is added to precipitation gages and snow pillows to keep the water being measured from freezing. SNOTEL stations would become inoperative without the procurement of this antifreeze solution. The procurement of antifreeze is an annual requirement needed by multiple Data Collection Offices (DCOs) that operate the SNOTEL network in their regions.
