Description

The USDA Forest Service is seeking to suppress spongy moth populations on the George Washington & Jeerson National Forests as well as selected sites on the National Park Service Shenandoah National Park. The primary objective is to preserve the resources in day use recreational areas which would lessen the potential for additional tree mortality that could impact visitor safety. Other states (Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, and other areas of Virginia) in the southeast may need suppression in the future depending on population growth and other abiotic factors.
