GAOA - El Cap Recreation Area Improvements: Campground and Day Use Area

This is advertised to 100% small businesses Project Description; The Contractor shall furnish the necessary personnel, material, equipment, services and facilities (except as otherwise specified), to perform the Statement of Work/Specifications referenced in Section J. This project is for construction of the El Capitan (El Cap) Campground and Day Use Area improvements, and various repairs and improvements at the adjacent USFS dock facility.

The Work includes a Base Bid and three (3) Option Items:

Base Bid (Recreation Area): Major Work items include site preparation and earthworks for one day use recreation area with timber shelter and concrete pad, pay station, gravel parking area, aggregate trail, signs, site furnishings, drainage improvements, installation of a vault toilet, and related miscellaneous Work. Work also includes resurfacing improvements to the existing gravel loop road, removal of debris on the surface and below surface from former use as a logging camp, and the removal and remediation of areas with known invasive plant species.

Option 1 (Recreation Area): Referenced in drawings but will not be exercised.

Option 2 (Recreation Area Campground): Major Work includes site preparation and earthworks for three camp sites, signs, site furnishings, and related miscellaneous Work.

Option 3 (Dock Repairs - Remote Dock): Major Work includes repair of piling, concrete floats ,and dock flotation; installation of passive cathodic protection system, non-slip surfaces, and composite curb in place of deteriorated timber curb; replacement of various dock components/hardware and concrete decking; cleaning and painting of metal components; reattaching safety ladder; improving the fender system. 5. Option 4 (Dock Repairs - Remote Dock OPT001): Log Fender Camel Removal.

PROJECT LOCATION Thorne Bay Ranger District, Tongass National Forest. El Capitan Recreation Area is located about 75 road miles north of Craig, Alaska on Prince of Wales Island at lat/long 56.16299, -133.32061. The site is typically accessed by road from Craig, Klawock, or Hollis, and includes long portions of gravel single lane road. Boat access is available via the adjacent USFS dock on site. Klawock and Craig are the nearest full-service communities.

The site is in a remote location without utilities or potable water. Communication and cell phone service is not available on site or in the immediate vicinity. MAGNITUDE OF CONSTRUCTION PROJECT Disclosure of the Magnitude of Construction is between: $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. Period of Performance is:
