Notice of Intent (NOI) to award Sole Source Olmsted LD Backup Operating System

NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive proposals. This is not a solicitation or request for offers. No solicitation package is available and telephone requests will not be honored. This is a proposed action for a sole source procurement to purchase hydraulic pumps as components of a backup hydraulic system for Olmsted Locks. The backup hydraulic system is to be used in case of major failure to the Olmsted Locks operating system.

The system will be deployed to allow the lock staff to manually bypass the built in operating system and operate the lock while repairs are made to restore full operation. This system consists of two hydraulic power units that supply power to operate the lock miter gates and filling and emptying valves. Each hydraulic power unit can operate one corner of the lock. Each hydraulic power unit includes one variable displacement pump and one gear pump. Options for two additional power units will also be included in the contract.
