The USCG is seeking qualified sources to complete the overhaul and repair of the Polar Star Heavy Ice Breaker Controllable Pitch Propellers (CPP). The USCG owns nine (9) CPP assemblies, three (3) of which are installed on the POLAR STAR (WAGB-10) at any given time, with the other 6 rotating in and out of repair and installation. The propellers were originally manufactured by Escher Wyss, which is now a part of Andritz Hydro.

Each of the CPP assemblies are comprised of four (4) blades, have a diameter of 16ft, are made of EN30B steel, and weigh approximately 88,500lbs. This IDIQ will be for a 5 year period with a base year starting in FY25, with annual orders for hub overhual/repair of 3 per year expected. Anticipated work expected to commence around 01 June 2025 on West Coast only.
