GEOTEK LTD/ UPGRADE MSCL ITEMS

The US Geological Survey (USGS) intends to award a purchase order to GEOTEK LIMITED for software and hardware upgrades to their GEOTEK LIMITED Multi-Sensor Core Logger System. Award will be made in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b) and the procedures at FAR Part 12 entitled, Acquisition of Commercial Items and FAR Part 13 entitled, Simplified Acquisition Procedures.

GEOTEK LIMITED is, to the knowledge of the USGS, the only source who can ensure data continuity as they are the manufacturer of these items and there are no authorized distributers or resellers in the marketplace. The GeoTek MSCL is used to analyze core samples for research projects involving such things as earthquakes, climate research, marine mineral exploration, and volcanic activity history.

It is critical that we obtain software and hardware upgrades to our Geotek Multi-Sensor Core Logger (MSCL) system to (1) meet serviceable requirements set by Geotek and (2) continue to provide industry standard data quality. The purpose of this notice is to satisfy the requirements of FAR Subpart 5.2. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, all responsible parties may submit a capability statement which may be considered by the agency. No solicitation will be issued.

A determination not to compete this action based upon responses received is in the sole discretion of the Government. The NAICS code 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing) and PSC 6640 (Laboratory Equipment and Supplies) apply to this announcement. Responses or inquiries shall only be accepted through electronic mail addressed to vnuno@usgs.gov and must be uploaded and received in their entirety no later than Monday, August 19, 2024, at 1200 ET. Responses submitted by hardcopy or through any other web portal shall not be accepted or considered.
