The Contractor shall provide peer intervention training and education on lethal means safety. Lethal means safety (LMS) is the practice of putting time and distance between a person in crisis and various harmful tools (i.e. firearms, medications, sharp objects). This lethal means safety program must focus on the crisis of suicide and the harmful tool, firearms. The contract shall provide services that are data driven, utilizing current trends and research data on lethal means safety.
Furthermore, the contactor shall update content on an annual basis to ensure services reflect the changing conditions in the local environment and remains fresh for the intended audiences. The outcome is Soldiers and Families use the knowledge and tools provided by this service to increase peer intervention during crises and reduce suicides by firearms. The frequencies and standards of the the basic services vary by task. See the Performance of Works (PWS) for more information.
