NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE. EMAIL RESPONSES ONLY. This announcement serves as a market survey for manufacturing sources for Traveling Wave Tubes (NSN: 5690-01-319-5632) for the ASDE ground radar system. This announcement also serves as the FAA’s notice of intent to pursue single source acquisition procedures with the only known available source for these items if no responses are received, or if other sources cannot be determined fully capable of manufacturing this item.
This item is a critical component to the ASDE ground radar systems being used in the nation's major airports to ensure the safety of the flying public. At this time, Teledyne Defense Electronics LLC (SAM UEI: YYKNHCKK15C3) is the believed by the FAA to be the only available source of this item due the proprietary technical data needed to manufacture.
Although no other sources are currently known by the FAA to exist, please provide a response to this announcement if your company is in fact fully capable and interested in manufacturing this item. Responses must include claim of possession of all technical data and manufacturing capabilities needed to produce this item.
If no responses are received, or if a competitive environment among fully capable manufacturers cannot be confirmed to exist as a result of this announcement, the FAA intends to pursue a requirements-based agreement for future ordering of this item with the aforementioned only known source using agency single source procurement procedures.
This announcement is being posted for market research purposes and also compliance with Acquisition Management Systems (AMS) 3.2.2.5.1(c) if no other available sources can be confirmed to exist. The AMS is the FAA’s agency-wide governing acquisition authority in place of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
