Piston Aircraft Fuel Initiative - Candidate Fuel

The FAA’s intends to award, on a single source basis to VP Racing Fuels, Inc., an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity Contract with three one-year ordering periods and fixed price CLINS for a blend of up to 75,000 gallons of 100ULE unleaded aviation fuel in support of the Piston Aviation Fuels Initiative (PAFI) and the Eliminate Aviation Gasoline Lead Emissions programs. These programs seek to identify and authorize replacements for current 100 octane low lead (100LL) aviation gasoline.

The Government intends to procure this fuel pursuant to Acquisition Management System 3.2.2.4 “Single-Source Selection”. The fuel formulated by VP Racing Fuel is the only candidate fuel that successfully passed the FAA’s required pre-screening tests. The pre-screening tests consist of Detonation Performance, Engine Durability Performance, and Materials Compatibility Performance. Consequently, the VP Racing fuel is the only fuel that can graduate into the next phase of PAFI testing. This is a first-time procurement. This is NOT a Screening Information Request or Request for Proposal of any kind. The FAA is neither seeking nor accepting unsolicited proposals.
