Omnicell 2 Bay Cell Southern Arizona

Department of Veterans Affairs, Rpo West. Surgical and Medical Instrument Manufacturing.
Awarded
$88,818.06 on the award notice, September 23, 2024, contract 36F79723D0079
Description
As published on SAM.gov.
The Southern Arizona VAHCS is requesting the Brand Name purchase of the Omnicell Computerized Storage Cabinets. These cabinets are smart medical storage units equipped with sensors and technology to monitor inventory, track expiration dates, and streamlines medication management. In addition, the computerized cabinets reduce medication errors and missed doses with automated dispensing. With real-time inventory tracking to ensure optimal stock levels, free up staff time for crucial patient care.
Currently Omnicell storage cabinets are being used in the Pharmacy departments. If the SAVAHCS were to switch to another brand of computerized supply cabinets, it would greatly increase the complexity of operation and maintenance of the database and system because it would require VA to maintain two different computerized supply cabinets integrated into the local Pharmacy.
In addition, a different brand of computerized storage cabinets would greatly risk increase in training costs and increase in operating costs relating to support, servicing, and maintenance. Training from another vendor on a different brand for VA staff would entail additional class costs and learning materials, and travel expenses.
