The purpose of renewing the AMBRA radiology cloud-based software is to continue promoting rapid information transfer for the classification of AFM cases and real-time reporting of case-based data in outbreak and non-outbreak scenarios. Parties involved will be hospitals where AFM patients are treated, state and local health departments engaged in AFM surveillance, expert neurologists who perform case classification, and CDC, who coordinates national AFM surveillance efforts.

The renewal of the AMBRA software will continue to streamline the sharing of MRI images for case classification in order to shorten the time from AFM case reporting to classification. AMBRA will shorten case classification time significantly; benefits to AFM national surveillance will include more real-time data reporting, rapid feedback to clinicians and patients as to their case classification, and more accurate image viewing for improved case classification.

Using AMBRA software, hospitals can upload MRI images of suspected AFM cases directly to a protected and confidential cloud for review by the expert neurology panel. AMBRA software allows images to be directly loaded for viewing by the neurology panel, thus preserving the integrity of the radiographic image, or mailing images to CDC who would then directly upload to the cloud for viewing. Expected deliverables include access to AMBRA software renewal, and technical support.
