The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers New York District intends to solicit a fixed price contract for repairs to the Drift Collection Vessel (DCV) Gelberman. The solicitation will reference brand name paint products. The identified brand/manufacturer items or proprietary specifications are intended to be examples for a basis of design, and the paints and brands listed are not to be construed as favored over or excluding others.
Colors Colors shall match the existing colors on the vessel and shall conform to the Federal Colorchip numbers shown below. AMS Standard 595A, 1 Feburary, 2018 defines the appearance of the colors associated with each colorchip number shown below. References below (such as “red” or “black”) not associated with a specific colorchip number shall be associated with a specific colorchip number shown elsewhere in this section for that color. Hull above waterline, lower parts of deck fittings, and bulwarks: Black, similar or equal to AMS-STD-17038 (gloss or AMS-STD-27038 (semi-gloss)).
Decks: Deck Red, similar or equal to AMS-STD-10076 (gloss or a like colored semi-gloss. (Deck paint applied to any deck or walking surface shall have an environmentally compliant non-skid additive added to the final coat in amounts recommended by the paint manufacturer).
Deckhouse: Above first 14” from deck Old Ivory AMS-STD-17855 (semi-gloss) subject to the approval of the COR. From the deck to 14” AMS-STD-36270 Medium Gray (boot top).
Stacks: Black, similar or equal to AMS-STD-17038 (gloss or AMS-STD-27038 (semi-gloss)), with red band behind the Corp Castle and AMS-STD-17178 silver strips boarding above and below the red band subject to the approval of the COR. Fittings (higher parts) and tripping hazards on deck fittings: Yellow, similar or equal to AMS-STD-13655 (Blue Angels Yellow) (gloss). Identification and Draft markings: Insignia White similar or equal to AMS-STD-17875 (gloss).
Hull Below Water Line: Any red, dark red, dark green, dark blue or black anti-fouling subject to the approval of the COR. Paints Paints listed below are acceptable under these specifications. The paints and brands on this list are not to be construed as favored over or excluding others. The Contractor shall submit a list of paints to be used to the COR for approval prior to the start of painting. Color references below (such as “red” and “black”) in these specifications refer to the color definitions in (III) above. The abbreviation “dft” below means “dry film thickness”.

Sherwin-Williams Company: Duraplate 235 Black, two (2) coats, 5 mils dft each International Paint: FPY999/FPA327 epoxy anti-corrosive plus a second coat of FPL 274, 5 mils dft each Devoe Coatings: Formula 230 Black, two (2) coats, 4 mils dft each PPG Protective & Marine Coatings, Amercoat 235 Black, two (2) coats, 4 mils dft each 4.
