U.S. Army Contracting Command – Aberdeen Proving Ground (ACC-APG), Natick Division in support of U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command – Soldier Center (DEVCOM-SC) intends to award a Firm Fixed Price contract on a sole source basis to Southwestern Industries, Inc. located at 2615 Homestead Place, Compton, California 90220-5610 under the authority prescribed in FAR 13.106-1(b)(1). The requirement is for the purchase of the following:
Upgrades to the computer numerical control system (CNC) on two TRAK DPM3 milling machines. Maintenance services for the two TRAK DPM3 millings machines, a TRAK FHM7 milling machine, and two TRAK TRL lathe machines. Two four-hour training sessions to be provided on site on the operation of the CNC system on the TRAK milling and lathe machines.
The TRAK DPM3, FHM7 milling machines, and TRL lathes are manufactured by Southwestern Industries, Inc. and it has been determined as the only viable contractor for this effort. The upgrade of the CNC system on the TRAK milling machines involves replacement of the computer control system, an integral part. The TRAK CNC system is designed to work with the TRAK milling machine and there are no compatible substitutes.
Southwestern Industries, Inc. directly provides maintenance and training for these machines and does not license service representatives from other companies. Other vendors have been considered, however, Southwestern Industries, Inc. is the only known provider of the CNC system, maintenance services, and training for these machines. No equivalent products or services that will meet the requirements are known.
The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this requirement is 333517 - Machine Tool Manufacturing and the size standard is 500 employees. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. No solicitation document is available.
Interested parties may identify their interest and capability by sending responses regarding this requirement to the Army Contracting Command – Aberdeen Proving Ground CCAP-SCN, Natick Contracting Division via EMAIL ONLY to BOTH edmund.j.bousaleh.civ@army.mil and alejandro.ayala.civ@army.mil no later than 1500 HRS EDT 7 SEPTEMBER 2024. The U.S. Government will not pay for any information or administrative cost incurred in response to this Notice. All costs associated with responding to this Notice will be solely at the expense of the interested party.
