Description

As published on SAM.gov.

We are looking for a machine that can perform presetting and fatigue testing of torsion bars. Machine must be able to test bars up to 90” with one end ANSI B92.1 external involute spline with 16/32 diametral pitch, 45deg PA, 46 teeth 2.937 major, 2.8125 minor, and 2.875 pitch diameters. The other end has ANSI B92.1 external involute spline with 16/32 diametral pitch, 45-degree pressure angle, and 48 teeth, 3.062 major, 2.9375 minor, and 3.00 pitch diameters.

Testing Bar must be first preset to an angle of 85deg and return to zero load, approximately 25 deg of “set” will be taken. Then from the unloaded state conduct fatigue testing (5,000 cycles) between 10 and 60 degrees of loading at a cyclic rate of 15 to 35 cycles per minute (worst case part stiffness 863 kip-ft).

Thus, the max torque during presetting is almost the same as the peak torque in fatigue, 52 kip-ft (624 kip-in)” Machine needs to have the ability to test up at potentially 105 deg of presetting, with the same max torque and the fatigue test to actuator would be 60kip-ft max static torque and 110 deg angle range. There are also temperature requirements for the bar during testing ( temperatures the bar cannot exceed). More specific requirements will be provided at a later date. Interested vendors, please submit a capability statement
