NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE -MODIFICATION

NOTICE OF INTENT THIS IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, the 187th Fighter Wing (FW) Contracting Office intends to award a contract modification on a sole source basis, to Birmingham Industrial Construction, LLC for additional work on Building 1303. This sole source modification action is required for completion of the following scope of work: Work may include but will not be limited to any or all the following:

Site work, installation of new concrete paving (on south side of building), installation of additional interior and exterior electrical services, installation of additional interior and exterior communications infrastructure and installation of security fencing and wall. The modification is required to support unanticipated equipment that is necessary for the basing of the F-35 aircraft.

The sole source modification shall be made to Birmingham Industrial Construction, LLC the incumbent contractor who was awarded the initial competitively awarded contract for the renovation and repair of Building 1303. Reason for the sole source modification is the ongoing construction project makes awarding this project to a different contractor impractical due to coordination issues and access to the work site, blocked on three (sides) by ongoing construction projects and one (1) side by an active aircraft flightline.

THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. The Government is not obligated to and will not pay for any information received from potential sources as a result of this notice of intent. This Notice of Intent is hereby published in accordance with FAR 5.201. All responses received within 15 days of the posting of this notice will be considered by the Government.

A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The 187th Fighter Wing will consider any responses to this notice received within fifteen (15) calendar days of the posting of the notice.
