Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado is seeking information for seeking potential sources to provide the Civil Engineering Squadron (CES) with repair for the Bldg 2025 Cooling Towers to address leaks and operation of the towers.
Description: Make repairs to three cooling towers at Building 2025 at Peterson SFB. There are three existing Evapco cooling towers with model number ESWA 336-45N and with serial numbers 12-517182, 12-517183, 12-51784 rated at 2050 gallons per minute. The basin is stainless steel and upper sections are galvanized. These Cooling towers have various degrees of scaling, and currently have leaks in basin. All work should be done in accordance with the PWS, all local, federal and USAF applicable codes. The Contractor shall follow all Green Procurement mandates and submittal requirements.
Project Specifications: Must meet or exceed the following specifications: Contractor shall prep surface with combination of cleaning, descaling and hand grinding basin to create a 3 mil profile. Basin areas under piping with limiting clearances to grind shall be surface treated with Rydlyme or equivalent biodegradable descaler to get down to bare metal. Contractor shall replace inlet louvers with original or equivalent to original manufacturers materials on all three cooling towers.
Contractor shall clean, descale and unplug nozzles to ensure good flow. Contractor shall clean and descale drift eliminators and sidewalls of cooling towers. Contractor shall inspect and adjust float/fill for cooling tower operation. Contractor shall provide a bonding agent prior to applying CIM 1000 or equivalent urethane to cooling towers. Contractor shall provide 60 mil thickness of CIM (Chase Industrial Membrane) 1000 or equivalent urethane.
This coating is to form an elastomeric liner to form a chemical, waterproof and abrasion resistant barrier. CIM can handle a pH range of 2 to 12. CIM can handle stretch of 300% and return to its original shape. After work is complete including cure time, contractor shall restart cooling tower system ensuring proper operation including makeup water and chemical water treatment. Contractor may work on one cooling tower at a time to ensure uptime of condenser water. As one tower is complete and inspected, contractor can start work on next cooling tower.
