Echo Revolve F4 Microscope and Components

PRE-SOLICITATION NOTICE – NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE NOI-NIAID-24-2226575 NAICS – 333310 This is a Notice of Intent, not a request for proposal.

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to negotiate on an other than full and open competition basis with Discover Echo Inc to procure an Echo Revolve F4, model RVSF1000, microscope and components for use in the Vaccine Immunology Program (VIP) of the Vaccine Research Center (VRC) in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

The Vaccine Immunology Program (VIP) aids the Vaccine Research Center (VRC) by supporting the development of monoclonal antibodies and vaccines for infectious diseases such as HIV, Influenza, Ebola, and more recently SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus. Support is through the state-of-the-art laboratory performing pre-clinical as well as Phase 1 and Phase 3 clinical end point testing to inform further study designs, research questions and monoclonal therapeutic screening and design.

As part of the equipment necessary to perform cell-based assays to identify functional outputs of the clinical trials being performed, the VIP requires a microscope capable of fluorescence imaging in an upright and inverted fashion. To perform cell-based assays for functional readouts of clinical trial endpoints, the VIP requires the need to perform live-cell imaging in brightfield, phase-contrast, and fluorescence readouts as a means to evaluate reporter readouts in real-time.

The Echo Revolve F4 microscope is unique in its ability to convert between upright and inverted functionality, small footprint, XY stage movement and large field of view. Furthermore, this microscope is already in-use within the Vaccine Research Center, allowing for comparable features and performance as the labs we work with within the program. By having the same style microscope, the VIP can more easily and safely train people on equipment.
