NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) Soliciting from a Single Source with Cameca Instruments Inc, Madison WI for the purpose of renewing a Service Contract for (1) Large Geometry (LG) Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS) instrument.

This is a sole source requirement inasmuch as Cameca Instruments Inc has proprietary rights to the instrument design/schematics and software utilized in the instrument. As OEM, only Cameca Instruments Inc has access to performance verified componentry, spare parts, consumable parts, software, technical support, upgrades, and engineering resources to maintain the original operating specifications.

Furthermore, Cameca Instruments Inc Service Engineers are the only certified and factory trained personnel available to service the instrument. A firm fixed-price purchase order to renew the service contract will be negotiated and issued on or about 12 Sep 2024 for a 12-month performance period and include one (1) 1-yr. option period. No solicitation package will be issued.

This notice is not a request for competitive quotations; however, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. Inquiries will only be accepted via e-mail to randy.schroyer@nist.gov. The government will consider responses received by 5:00PM, EST, 14 Aug 2024. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill the requirement.

A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in the future. This Notice of Intent is not a Request for Quotation (RFQ) nor is it a request for competition. No telephone requests will be honored.
